Thorne Meeting At about the age of 17 I began putting on the pounds. By the time my wedding came around at the age of 18 I had ballooned to a size 18!! By the time I had my first baby at 24 I was 17 stone! Then I had another baby and I was that busy that I never gave myself and my ever increasing weight another thought. Until we had a street party for the silver jubilee. When looking at the photos afterwards I then realised how big I had become. I resolved to start losing weight the very next day, but like all tomorrows they never come and before I knew it, it was bonfire night of the same year! That night it suddenly dawned on me that it would soon be Christmas and I still hadn't done anything about it, so I threw away my half eaten hot dog and was determined to lose my weight. I joined my local slimming club and lost over 6 stone. I have struggled over the last 30 years to keep my weight under control, joining different slimming clubs as my weight went up and down, never really understanding the joy of food. I used to think food was my enemy, until I joined Slimlines. The manager Lyn is the best! She shows you how you control the food, not your food controlling you. The Slimlines programme gives really good practical help, not loads of psychological mumbo jumbo. Lyn really supports you and has a real deep understanding of what being overweight means to people. Whether you are a first time slimmer or a person like me who has been to every slimming club that exists, she has a way of welding everyone together to make a really supportive strong group, who help and support each other. We are like a big family unit. I have made so many friends who I now go to yoga, gym, nights out with which has really meant a lot to me. I wont be going to any other slimming club again, I am staying where I feel comfortable, nurtured and most of all where I have lost my weight and am maintaining it beautifully. Sandra's weight loss was 15lbs in 10 weeks and has been maintaining her weight since July. Sandra's tip - Don't kid yourself, write everything down in your food diary. Start now not tomorrow!
