I was always very slim up until I was 16 and was a size 10, but then started to put weight on gradually over a period of 3 years. My boyfriend was really thin and was always hungry so consequently we were always ordering take-aways. He stayed stick thin but I started to balloon!
I have a really good social life so it was boozy weekends with my friends plus fish and chips or Chinese on the way home.
When me and my mum went clothes shopping I hated it.
I didn't want anyone to know what size I was even my mum, in fact on my 18th birthday I was a size 18!!! It was when I saw the photos that I really was shocked.
And I decided there and then to start losing weight. When I joined Slimlines I was really nervous about anyone seeing my weight but I need not have worried. When you see the manager, there is a screen so no-one can see and also she just writes it down on your card and never says your weight out loud.
In the meetings they have awards for different stages of your weight loss, i.e a star for every 7lbs, getting into your next stone, a Slimlines box with a pink stone in for when you lose a stone etc. I loved these as they gave me the incentive to strive for the next one! You also got an award if you lost the most weight in the meeting. Recently I received my 50lb award.
But the best award of all is to go in all the clothes shops and ask for a size 10!!!!
Don't let anyone tell you that being overweight doesn't matter, it does!!! It colours the whole way you live your life, you feel miserable and depressed because basically you are not treating your body properly and all the rubbish food you eat and drink contributes totally to how you feel.
I would advise anyone my age to go to Slimlines or if you cant get to a meeting buy the programme, because believe you me you will look and feel fantastic. Party on!!!!
