When people hear the word ‘recipe’ they immediately think ‘too much like hard work’ or ‘I haven’t got time to mess around’ or ‘I can’t cook!!’. The thing is, everyone makes a ‘recipe’ when they cook a meal.
In the following pages we would like to show you some really quick and easy, low calorie ‘recipes’ which we made in the Slimlines meetings, ‘Ready steady cook style’. Some of the members brought in 1 item of food, some savoury, some sweet. We then proceeded to make a savoury meal and a pudding out of the ingredients. You will see when you look at the recipes just how easy, quick and simple they were. We also managed to include all the food groups in both dishes, i.e carbohydrates, fats, proteins, fruit, vegetables and dairy products. The good news is, that they were all under 400 calories for the two dishes!! You will always lose weight quicker if you have balance and remember, on the Slimlines diet you have your free day to have a night out, have fish and chips or a bottle of wine.
We have also included some recipes from the members themselves plus, you will find some more recipes and tips from the members who have reached their target weight. Remember, food puts you weight on but food will also lose you weight. At the Slimlines meetings, the emphasis is on how to use your calories/portions in the most economical and productive way, giving you tips, for example busy working people, busy mums and dads, those who ‘don’t like to cook’, vegetarians, gluten / dairy free ideas etc, and we are having great weight losses!! We sell low calorie cook books in the meetings and on the web site to help you with your weight loss, but remember, they have to be used in order to help you get that weight off!!!
Here at Slimlines we are always trying to source new low calorie cookbooks for you to try, encouraging you to look after yourself and get a love of good food.  We passionately believe in enjoying your life to the full, and showing you that you can lose weight at the same time!  But at the end of the day, its you who has to want to change, its you who has to take a good look at how you are eating and why you are putting weight on, its you who has to have a passion for getting back your life again, and its you who are in control of your weight loss not anyone else.

Cooking with Scissors
 
Gone are the days when you have to stand at the sink for hours on end peeling vegetables.... and lets face it, a lot of women go out to work now and just haven't got the time. But there's no need to sacrifice fresh for frozen!! Help is at hand!! All the big supermarkets now sell fresh vegetables already peeled and washed for you to drop straight into the pan/wok or into the microwave!! Asda and Tesco do a brilliant range of really cheap, freshly prepared vegetables and salad. I love Asda because they do a bag of chopped onions for only 29p!!! You can't buy them and chop them yourselves for as cheap as that!! And theres no need for any tears. Please give them a try, believe me you'll never go back to peeling your own again!!! And all you need is a pair of scissors to open the bags!!!
